Why Detoxify?

The average American is exposed to more toxins through water and air pollution, household cleaning supplies, pesticides, disinfectants, and food additives than ever before in human history.  We ingest new chemicals, use more drugs, eat more sugar and refined foods, and abuse ourselves daily with various stimulants and sedatives.  Each year, an average American consumes more than 150 lbs. of sugar and 566 cans of soft drinks.  In addition, he/she consumes more than fifty pounds of artificial sweeteners per year, 45 large bags of potato chips, 120 orders of French fries, 190 candy bars and 150 slices of pizza.

All of this is harmful to our well-being and our feeling of wellness.  Toxins weaken our immune system and make us susceptible to various illnesses such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, allergies, obesity, skin problems, migraines, insomnia, diabetes, fatigue, aches and pains, circulatory problems, coughs, gastrointestinal problems, psychological disorders, birth defects, lupus, fibromyalgia, candidiasis, and chronic fatigue syndrome.  The World Health Organization research implicates environmental chemicals in 60 to 80 percent of all cancers!

Our bodies detoxify naturally every day, eliminating or neutralizing toxins through the colon, liver, kidneys, lungs, lymph and skin.  But our systems and organs become often completely overloaded, thus many unwanted substances are stored in our tissues, leading to toxicity.

Toxicity occurs in our body when we take in more than we can utilize and eliminate.  Toxins may produce an immediate or rapid onset of symptoms, as many pesticides and some drugs do; possibly, even more commonly, it may cause some long-term negative effect, such as asbestos exposure leading to lung cancer.

IS ACIDOSIS MAKING YOU SICK?

According to some healthcare professionals, 'acidosis' is killing us. According to the Wolfe Clinic, "There are no specific diseases, only specific disease conditions, and there is only one disease: acidosis!"

Why are we so acidic? Today's modern diet is mainly composed of processed foods; in particular food preservatives. As by-products of these foods, acid wastes are the common denominator in all degenerative diseases since the liver simply cannot dispose of these toxic by-products. When acid wastes remain in the body, they accumulate and cause organs to malfunction and ultimately break down.

Our bodies live and die at the cellular level. Our cells must maintain alkalinity in order to function and remain healthy and alive. Our bodies will go to great lengths to neutralize and detoxify acids before they act as poisons and harm our cells. Some of most common medical conditions associated with acidity are arthritis, gout, kidney disease, cancer, digestive ailments, and obesity.

What can you do?

First, avoid or eliminate acid foods such as coffee, tea, vinegar, meat, beer, soft drinks, artificial sweeteners etc.

Secondly, consume more alkalizing foods such as green leafy vegetables, vegetable juices, lemons, olive oil, green tea, lemon water, onions, asparagus, almonds, etc.

An Acid-Alkaline balance diet that consists of 75% of alkaline versus 25% of acid foods can greatly help to create a healthier you.
